This guitar came from my Aunt Ginny in New Jersey. Her parents bought it
second hand when she took lessons in the 1940s. It appears to be a 1939
model, built in the fall (F39). The "rosette" is painted on in
shell piece patterns. It is a small bodied guitar that was a very popular
student model in its day.
These pictures were taken before anything was done to it. It cleaned up
nicely, and is a pretty little guitar, and still fairly playable in the
first position.
Here's a link to a little mpeg video shot of me singing a thank you song to my Aunt. The melody is the Stone's tune "Sweet Virginia". The words go:
Thanks for the guitar, Aunt Ginny
Thank you, for the red afghan too
It was great to have you here in California
Loved your visit and hope you come back soon
