Introduction

Have you ever heard of the Seven Wonders of the World? Do you know why they are called that? Do you know if they still exist? Historians have realized that they need one more "Wonder" to make the set equal so we are asking for your help on this important mission.

Task

Search the list of resources and discover all the cool reasons why these Seven have been chosen to represent the Wonders of the World. List their characteristics and evaluate why they are the Wonders of the World. Using this information in your group, chose an Eighth Wonder of the World explaining it's characteristics and the reasons you chose it.

Discovery questions about the Seven Wonders of the World:
1.     Which "Wonder" had  a practical use? What was it?
2.     Which "Wonder" was built to please a king's wife?
3.     Which "Wonder" have a 35 mile off-shore reflection?
4.     Which "Wonder" is still standing?
5.     Which "Wonder" influenced the creation of The Statue of Liberty in New York?
6.     Which "Wonder" had a time span of only 56 years? Why?
7.     Which "Wonders" were used as temples of worship?
8.     Which "Wonder" may be a myth?
9.     Which "Wonders" were used for tombs of ancient kings? What were their names?
10.    Which "Wonder" was built in honor of a Greek goddess?  Who?
11.    Which "Wonder"  caused the sculptor to be criticized at the time but commended now because of it's size?
12.    Which "Wonder" makes someone famous/remembered? Everything else about his life was boring. Who?
