Christmas time is just around the corner and it is time to
start shopping for your mom, dad, 10 year old brother, and 6 year old sister.
You and your twin have decided to buy these presents together, since you can buy
nicer presents.
You will work with a partner, pretending you are twins.
All together you have $70.00 that you can spend for your
Christmas presents. You and your twin have decided to spend $20 on Dad,
$20 on Mom, $15 on your brother, and $15 on your sister. Each of your
family members has a different favorite store.
Your grandmother has agreed to take you both shopping at all 4 of these stores,
but she only has a few hours to spend. She has asked you to go on line to
each of these stores and choose a gift within your price range ahead of time.
After you choose each gift, she wants you to figure out how much change you
should get at each store. She wants you to show her three different
combinations of bills and/or coins that the cashier might give you.

You can continue to experiment with this knowledge when you go shopping with Mom or Dad. Ask them how much money they plan to spend, then help them figure out how much change you will get.
